Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Viewers can expect discovering which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
